Liwonde National Park

Managed by African Parks it is one of the easily accessible and professionally run and maintained parks in the Southern Region. The Mighty Shire River That runs across it and the cathedral-like Mopane woodlands interspersed with candelabra euphorbia makes it the perfect habitat to a thriving wild life including the rare endangered black Rhino, good populations of Elephant, Buffalo and Sable Antelope. The Park is rich in birdlife with rare species like Pels Fishing Owls and Lilians Lovebirds

The accommodation is carefully chosen with our clients taste and budget in mind. Options between the comfort of a traditional rustic and stylish lodge or the basic eco camp with a deep connection to nature can be enjoyed. We can arrange a 3 hour boat trip on the Sire River to see elephants, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, waterbucks and many different water birds up close or a 4X4 open roof Game drive down the spinal route that traversers the park detouring to visit frequented waterholes or panoramic viewpoints.

Nocturnal drives gives you the chance to share the experience of watching the big cats hot on the hunt in the backdrop of the endearing sounds that keep the African night alive Our guides will ensure you safety throughout the tour and make your safari itself personal by asking you what you want to do and see and making recommendations based on whether or not these ideas are possible, given your specific needs.

Activities Include:

  • Game drives
  • Boat Safaris
  • Walking Safaries

Special arrangements can be made for you to contribute and physically participate in some of the conservation efforts and rsearch that the park is engaged in such as the mapping of nesting sites of the almost endangered Lillian's love birds in partnership with Wildlife Society of Malawi
